DIY: Keepsake Treasure Chest | TECHNIQUE: One Sheet Wonder Bag

Gumball Green Spartie Purse Gift Stampin Up2

As a special surprise for my Mom, I created this Michigan State Spartans themed purse to preserve her Sparty keepsakes of ticket stubs and small mementos from excursions to her alma mater.

I used Gumball Green Cardstock for the classic MSU green and embellished with Stitched Satin Ribbon Gumball Green and Silver Glimmer Paper.  It was really fun to add several grommets with my Crop-A-Dile to further the purse-appearance.  I even added a small envelope as an interior pocket made with DSP from Patterns Pack 2012-2014.

For the structure of the bag, I used the 8.5×11 version of Kelly Gettlefinger’s One Sheet Wonder Bag (See Video Link Below – Kelly makes it super easy to understand).  This pattern is so awesome – no trimming involved! Just score and fold, then glue and embellish!  I modified by pinching the sides and adding the lid (made with a Label Collection Framelit, then trimmed).  Incredibly versatile way to create a standard box or purse.  I will definitely make this pattern again!

PAPER: Gumball Green Cardstock, Silver Glimmer Paper, Patterns Pack 2012-2014.

TOOLS & EMBELLISHMENTS: Crop-A-Dile, Silver Grommets, Stitched Satin Ribbon Gumball Green, Bitty Banners Framelits, Label Collection Framelits, Simply Scored Scoring Tool, Simply Scored Diagonal Plate, Sticky Strip, Bone Folder.

TECHNIQUE: One Sheet Wonder Bag by Kelly Gettelfinger

This video contains instructions to create a standard size card box from 12×12 cardstock and this smaller box from 8.5×11 cardstock.  With Kelly’s design, you can whip up this 3D gift in a few minutes!

A Rockin’ Birthday Card

This is one rockin’ pink birthday card! I am very excited to share this project with you. Here, I paired Melon Mambo Cardstock with Pretty In Pink Cardstock and added some bold black details and embellished with silver using Silver Glimmer Paper and Silver eyelets. My experiment with the Crop-a-Dile continues… and another success! I don’t know how it works – but it looks great every time! This time, I made the eyelet go through all layers of the card front – which I would recommend since it helps the layers stay flat. This project was incredibly fun to create!

PAPER: Melon Mambo Cardstock, Pretty In Pink Cardstock, Basic Black Cardstock, Silver Glimmer Paper.

STAMP SETS: Blue Ribbon Wood / Blue Ribbon Clear, Everything Eleanor Wood / Everything Eleanor Clear,

TOOLS & EMBELLISHMENTS: 2 3/8 Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8 Circle Punch, 1 3/4 Circle Punch, Crop-a-dile (from Amazon), Scallop Dots Ribbon Basic Black, Dimensionals, Large Silver Eyelets (from Amazon).Bring on the Cake Wood / Bring on the Cake Clear.

Patio Party Flip Card

Patio Party is the perfect whimsical complement to the Flip Card layout.  Paired with Baja Breeze and Primrose Petals, this Designer Series Paper is great for a cheery greeting.

I really like this whimsical layout and fold.  I have seen a Sizzix die for easily cutting out this type of card with the Big Shot, but the dimensions do not result in a standard size card.  With custom cutting on my new favorite tool (The Stampin’ Trimmer, of course!), I can customize the location and size of the centerpiece, as well as the overall size.  I love the new trimmer for exact cuts – I would never have attempted this project before.  Surprisingly, there are no overcuts or cross-hair cuts to be found in this card! What a feat!

PAPER: Patio Party Designer Series Paper, Baja Breeze Cardstock, Primrose Petals Cardstock, Night of Navy Cardstock.

INK: Night of Navy Stampin’ Pad, Primrose Petals Stampin’ Pad.

STAMP SETS: Reason to Smile (July 2012 Promotion); Petite Pairs Wood / Petite Pairs Clear.

TOOLS & EMBELLISHMENTS: Stampin’ Trimmer, Paper Knife, Stamp-A-Ma-JigStitched Satin Ribbon Primrose Petals.

Summer Starfruit Sparkles with Hardware

Hardware Embellishing!  This is my first project with my new Crop-a-Dile.  I discovered this tool at my local craft store (unfortunately Stampin’ Up does not sell it anymore) and I ordered it from Amazon to come with a whole case of different color eyelets.  I used the Large size to create the holes for my Scallop Dots Ribbon Basic Black.  I love adding unexpected elements to projects.  I think the industrial feel of the metal eyelets is a great contrast to the feminine bow and sparkle details.  I’m excited to keep practicing with this technique.  What a fun tool!

PAPER: Patio Party Designer Series Paper, Summer Starfruit CardstockBasic Black Cardstock, Whisper White Cardstock.

INK: Summer Starfruit Stampin’ Pad, Basic Black Stampin’ Pad.

Comfort Cafe with Texture

I am truly surprised that the patterns in the Comfort Cafe DSP can be so versatile.  Using the stripe pattern here, I created a Clean & Simple birthday card with nested layers.  If you look closely, you will notice the bottom layer is actually Soft Suede.  I really like unpredictable nesting – that isn’t just simple one-on-one.  I used a larger framelit to cut out of the Midnight Muse layer, added Soft Suede behind the negative space, then propped the DSP up on Dimensionals and finished it off with a birthday greeting.  The square lattice embossing adds a great texture to the Midnight Muse piece.

PAPER: Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper, Soft Suede Cardstock, Pool Party Cardstock, Very Vanilla Cardstock, Midnight Muse Cardstock.

INK: Midnight Muse Stampin’ Pad.

STAMP SETS: Bring on the Cake Wood / Bring on the Cake Clear, Perfect Punches Wood / Perfect Punches Clear.

TOOLS/SUPPLIES: Label Collection Framelits for Big Shot DIe Cutting, Square Lattice Folder for Big Shot Embossing, Extra-Large Oval Punch, Dimensionals.
